Cultivating Boys’ Creativity and Talents

The Academy cultivates creativity in young men by offering a wide range of visual and performing arts.  Academy teachers encourage young men to discover a balance between intuition and training, between imagination and discipline.  The Jesuit model of cura personalis values the unique style, gifts, insights and humanity of each individual.

Fine Arts and Theater

Academy students perform in Christmas concerts, either singing in the chorus or playing an instrument in the band. The Academy sponsors its own theater production.

Academy students have multiple ways to get involved through the Enrichment Period during the school day, including cooking, robotics, boat building and others.  Examples of some after school activities are Science Olympiad and Math Counts Team.  Boys can also get involved through their Mentor Groups for the National Spelling Bee or Toledo Blade Stock Market Contest.

Academy students are encouraged to be active, be leaders, volunteer and develop new passions.  Just a few examples of clubs are Lego Robotics, Geocaching Team, Book Club, Spiritual Direction Activities and Seven Habits of Successful Teens Club.

Athletics

Academy young men can participate in several sports, often finding this is the perfect time to try new sports, or continue to improve at a favorite. The Academy often fields teams in football, basketball, cross country, soccer, track and wrestling, contingent upon student participation.  The Academy participates in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) network.
