AP Scholars ‑- they are students who often receive college credit for taking advanced level classes as high school students. Forty-one students were designated AP Scholars in recognition of their outstanding achievement on AP exams.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students' performance on AP Exams. Of the SJJ honorees: 15 qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least a 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
Seven were recognized as AP Scholars with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Nineteen qualified for the AP Scholar Awards by completing three or more AP exams with grades of 3 or higher.
Assistant Principal Cherie Bischoff explained, "AP courses are some of the most rigorous courses a student can take in high school. These are college level courses with a common assessment given to every student in the United States and beyond who register for these tests." She added, "Our teachers are very dedicated and work hard to make sure that our students are well prepared for the 3-hour exam."
