The first graduating class of the new St. John's Jesuit will be celebrating the fact that it was forty years ago that they graced the halls of the high school. Throughout the year we will take the opportunity to recognize this class, as they join the SJJ community, for a wide range of activities. Members of this class are asked to be our guests at the musical, the senior class liturgy, and the Central football game. Sandwiched within these gatherings will be our Alumni Weekend in July. Below is a summary of the Class of '69's opportunities to gather and celebrate.
On Friday and Saturday, July 17-18, all alumni are invited to participate in the activities provided. The 27th annual golf outing will kick off the festivities and will be followed by the third annual party at LePetit Gourmet. Saturday we will host a picnic with food, adult and kid games, and tours of the school followed by mass in the chapel. The sit-down dinner Saturday evening is reserved for reunion classes only. Graduating classes of '69, '74, '79, '84, '89, '94, and ' 99 will celebrate their years at St. John's Jesuit.
On Tuesday, December 22 the Class of '04 will have their first official reunion since graduating. Details will follow at a later date but mark those calendars now.
Our new president Fr. Martinez made a surprise visit to the Cleveland Reception and was pleased to have the opportunity to meet alumni from that region. Twenty-five alumni and guests joined Fr. Martinez, Alumni Director Mike Savona, and teacher Ron Miller. The range of classes represented was from 1972- 2006. Dave Zeurn '83 is to be thanked for all of the work that he did to make the night a success.
This year SJJ alumni receptions will be held in Dallas, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Charlotte. These gatherings allow for alumni in those areas to connect both socially and professionally (bring those business cards). College students in the area are thankful for the advice that they might receive. These events are a great way to stay connected to what is happening at your alma mater. There is no charge for these receptions.
If anyone would like to promote their business, by sponsoring the gathering in their city, please call Mike Savona at 419-865-5743 X260
Iowa State Head Coach, Olympic Champ and regarded by many as the best US wrestler ever has named Shawn Contos '93 to his wrestling staff. While at SJJ Shawn was the first ever four-time City League Champion and placed 3rd in the state twice.
