Welcome! Some of you are here because you want to prepare for a career in music. And some of you are here, because, well, you just love music and know it'll always be an important part of your life. Regardless, we're here to help you develop through an appreciation of music.

We have a mission: The Department of Music develops Christian leaders who are competent and confident musicians. Each student achieves his greatest potential of artistic expression and aesthetic judgment through the study and performance of music of many genres in an inclusive, supportive environment. Students model teamwork, a commitment to excellence, unselfishness and a passion for music's important role in the enrichment of the human spirit.

Xavier G. Smith (bio) - Director of Instrumental Music

Luke D. Rosen (bio) - Director of Choral Music, Fox Music Technology Lab Director

We have a variety of ensembles to accompany our eclectic tastes in music. These include the Marching Titans, the Symphonic Band, the Jazz Machine, the Men's Chorus, the SJJ Vocal Ensemble, the Liturgical Instrumental Ensemble, the Basketball Pep Band and the Community Middle School Band.

ChorusMusic is a lot of fun at SJJ, but we also take our music classes seriously as academic courses. Our music curriculum includes Music Technology, Music Appreciation, and AP Music Theory. AP Music Theory and Music Technology are taught in the Fox Music Technology Lab, a state-of-the-art facility that rivals major university music technology labs.
