Students take a variety of tests throughout the course of their high school careers. These tests allow us to get students ready for college by evaluating their performance from year to year on different measures. Students become aware of what they need to know and what they need to do to prepare them for the college admission process.
All students take the PLAN test which measures skills in English, Mathematics, Social Studies Reading, and Science Reasoning. This test is a practice test for the ACT which is taken in spring of Junior year. For information on the ACT and PLAN tests, try this Web site.
All students take the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test). This is a practice test for the SAT, and serves as a preview of the PSAT/NMSQT. Beginning in March of 2004, all sophomores will take the Ohio Graduation Tests. Click here for a PSAT Practice Test.
All students take the PSAT / NMSQT. The results of this test determine National Merit Scholarship candidates. Beginning in the second semester, juniors take the ACT and the SAT which are the two college admissions tests. Juniors take the Strong Interest Inventory during the second semester. To take free SAT Practice Tests, go to this Web site. Try to take SAT Prep your Junior year here at SJJ to further prepare for the SAT.
Students who still need to take ACT or SAT do so in the fall. Students who want to retake tests do so at this time, also.
