Our time of worship

Mass Services

The core of all we do begins with faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This is evidenced in our praying and reflecting together as a community.

Daily we begin with Mass in the school chapel. You’re welcome to join us.

Several all-school liturgies and prayer services are held throughout the year.

Also, since prayer is a vital part of our inner landscape, the school day begins with morning prayer with the entire student community by way of the P.A. system.

Ending the day with prayer is important to us as well. That happens at the end of 7th period when the entire school quiets down to hear a student read the Examen Prayer of St. Ignatius Loyola over the P.A. system. It is time to reflect upon the day’s actions and get in touch with the Lord who is always welcoming us to a deeper walk.

Praying helps us to be mindful of what we have, what we can do and who we are. This prayer of St. Ignatius is one that becomes familiar to all our students during their days at St. John’s.

LiturgiesLord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will.

St. Ignatius of Loyola, 1491-1556
