Summer Athletic and Enrichment Camps

ATHLETIC 

Registration in any athletic camp will be confirmed via email upon receipt of payment. Cost includes a $20 non-refundable processing fee. For a partial refund, cancellations must be received one week prior to the start of camp. Once a camp begins, no refunds will be issued. To accommodate campers in both morning and afternoon sessions, supervision will be provided in the Carty Fox Commons from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Basketball Camps

Titan Basketball

Entering grades 5 - 9

Fundamentals of basketball, offense and defense, shooting drills, ball handling, team defense, games and contests. Directed by Head Coach Ed Heintschel and staff.


Titan Elite Basketball

Entering grades 7 - 9 
June 17 - 19 |  8:30 - 11:30 a.m. | $75.00
High-level competition accompanied by high-level instruction. Players will be placed on teams and instructed by coaches within the team concept. Competitive games each day will follow team instruction and individual skill development. Directed by Coach Mike Schoen '05 and staff.

Junior Titan Basketball

Entering grades 1 - 4

Fundamentals and FUN clinic. Directed by coaching staff and SJJ basketball players.

Football Camp 

Entering grades 4 - 9

Fundamentals of offense and defense, passing and running games, daily punt, pass and kick competitions, speed enhancement, and form running techniques. Directed by Head Coach Larry McDaniel and staff.

Lacrosse Camp

Fundamentals of lacrosse, drills and development, team concepts, and stick handling. Directed by Head Coach Adam Salon and staff.

Soccer Camp

Entering grades 4 - 9

Fundamentals of soccer, individual drills, passing and ball control, offense and goal attempts, and team concepts. Directed by Head Coach Greg McElroy '87 and staff.


Total Athlete Camp

trength and conditioning training in the SJJ Lyden Center Weight Room. Fundamentals of strengthening, proper lifting techniques, individual training and fitness, and free weight instruction. Directed by  Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Dr. Dustin Winkler and staff.

Wrestling Camp

Entering grades K - 8
July 8 - 10 | 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. | $75.00
Fundamentals of wrestling, escape drills and techniques, take down drills and techniques. Directed by Head Coach Shawn Contos '93 and staff.

ENRICHMENT

Enrichment camps are offered to all boys and girls entering grade levels as specified. SPACE IS LIMITED. Registration will be confirmed via email upon receipt of payment. Cost includes a $20 non-refundable processing fee. For a partial refund, cancellation must be received one week prior to the start of camp. Once a camp begins, no refunds will be issued. To accommodate campers in both morning and afternoon sessions, Supervision will be provided in the Carty Fox Commons from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Adventure Camp

Start times vary from 8:00-9:00 am and end times vary from 12:30 pm-3:30 pm. An exact itinerary will be provided in May.
Go to the extreme with this camp! Go on a different adventure outing each day. Good times and great thrills will be had! The camp involves day trips only to destinations within Ohio and Michigan. Transportation provided. Adventures through the week may include four of the following: Rock wall Climbing, High Ropes Course, Mountain Biking, Paintball, Canoeing, Sky Zone Jump Park, Cost will cover everything but food and drinks
The SJJ bus will provide transportation for the week.


Ancient Rome

Salve! Travel back in time to Ancient Rome for a hands-on experience of the culture and history of one of the world's most influential empires. Our adventures will include engaging in mythology, learning Latin, digging up "ancient treasures," simulating Roman military exercises, and much more! If you enjoy history, art, gladiators, and fun, then this camp is for you!


Archery

Board Games

Entering grades 4 - 9

Experience new board games each day for some competitive fun! Learn unique new board games lie Pandemic, Seven Wonders, and Splendor. Also play classics like Settlers of Catan! Games will range in difficulty and no prior experience is necessary.

Broadcasting

(Entering grades 7 through 8)

Camp instructor Tom Cole, SJJ class of 1969, is a an experienced local broadcast journalist!  Campers will learn interview skills, on-air skills including how to broadcast in a studio, address the camera, give an open, read a prompter, and how to give an effective closing.  Mr. Cole has worked in TV sports broadcasting on Buckeye and BCSN for twenty-one years!  He helped start BCSN.  Mr. Cole has been named to the City of Toledo Hall of Fame for Athletics and Broadcasting.  

Build, Design, Fly!

(Entering grades 4 through 9)

Receive a prepackaged glider that will need assembled. Learn the basics of flight and build your own chuck glider. Campers will: be provided with plans to create their glider, be guided through the build process build their own chuck glider from foam board, and decorate the glider to make it unique.


Debate 

Entering grades 4 - 9

Learn to research and argue the most important issues in current events both within the United States and around the world. Compete against other students in practice debates and get a jump start on the different debate activities offered at the high school.

Fishing 

Entering grades 4 - 9

Maximum number is 24
Relax and enjoy some fishing, a summer favorite. Fish at various locations in Perrysburg and Swanton. Meeting Locations: Three Meadows Park, WW Knight Preserve, Oak Openings. Bring your own supplies or let us know if you'll need to borrow from us.

Marching Band

Entering grades 4 - 9

Performance July 26th at 6 pm

Come be a Marching Titan for a week! Students will be introduced to the basics of marching band and will have an opportunity to perform in the football stadium alongside current Marching Titans.  Our school band officers will lead music and marching sectionals and will help teach our middle school performers a marching show similar high school! Performance on Friday will be followed by an ice cream social held by our Band Boosters.


Master Chef

All Supplies provided by camp. An all around hands on cooking experience! Become acquainted around the kitchen, learn about foods from various cultures, become more nutritionally aware, and of course, leave with some good food!  For beginners and experienced cooks alike.


Mystery/Panic Room

The escape room, a social activity that locks a team into a room until they complete puzzles to unlock themselves – will be taking its own form in this summer fun camp. No, campers won’t be trying to break out of classrooms and escape school. Instead, they will be encouraged to use their wits, collaboration, and grit to break into a locked box. This is called Breakout EDU.  

Campers will be divided into teams and will be presented with a box with one or more locks on it. After solving a variety of clues and challenges, they will discover keys and codes they can use to unlock the box. Join the fun to see if you can “breakout”.

Robotics I

This camp is an introduction to building and programming· robots using the LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robotics System. Students will practice construction and programming with the NXT intelligent brick with servo style motors and ultrasonic sensor. In pairs, students build robots and program them with a computer to move, react, and make sounds in order to solve challenges. This camp is good practice for those interested in robotics competitions such as FIRST LEGO League. Previous NXT experience is fine. Beginners are welcome.

Robotics II

Science Enrichment

Hands on lab work defines this fun filled science enrichment camp. The Egg Drop Challenge, water rocket and more will keep the kids busy learning and having fun throughout the week.

Sign Language

Learn and develop basic sign language skills. Packed with lots of information.   A great stepping stone into American Sign Language.

Camp Invention: Supercharged, a STEM camp for boys and girls in grades 3 - 6 developed by the National Inventors Hall of Fame.  A minimum of 35 participants must register.  Note that registration for Camp Invention is independent from all other SJJ summer camps.  By clicking the following link, you will be directed to the website for the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

 St. John’s Jesuit is pleased to be the only Catholic school in Northwest Ohio to host Camp Invention: Supercharged. A STEM camp for boys and girls in grades 3 - 6 developed by the National Inventors Hall of Fame.  A minimum of 35 participants must register.
