How are students selected for admission? |
|
Students generally need average or above average grades, along
with satisfactory placement test scores and a recommendation from
current teachers to be considered. St. John's Jesuit does not
discriminate on the basis of race, creed, national or ethnic origin. |

Can we afford St. John's Jesuit? |
|
Yes, you can. Tuition is geared to each individual families' need. |

Is there any financial help available? |
|
SJJ has an extensive
financial assistance program for families unable to pay the entire
tuition. It is based solely on demonstrated family financial
need. Currently, we partner with over 67% of our families for
a Jesuit education. $2.1 million is pledged for tuition assistance.
To receive need-based tuition assistance, parents submit a confidential
financial aid application which is analyzed and returned to SJJ.
Awards are made in May each year for the coming school year.
Financial aid forms are available in the Admissions Office, you
can apply for financial aid online at www.factstuitionaid.com.

Is there a deadline for financial assistance?
Yes. January 7 is the priority deadline for incoming freshman and transfer
students. Requests filed after that point can be difficult to grant.
Are there any scholarships awarded?
Scholarships are awarded to incoming students based on
High School placement test scores. Students scoring in the 85% or higher
will receive an academic scholarship. Students must take the High School
Placement Test in December or January to qualify for academic scholarships.

Are athletic scholarships
available?
There are no scholarships given for athletic ability.
Are there any programs for minority students?
Toledo 2020 is a comprehensive, highly personalized program targeting
academically talented and economically and culturally disadvantaged youth.
Toledo 2020 targets the bright and the disadvantaged youth. The program
prepares students, known as Jesuit Scholars, for success in a rigorous,
college-preparatory curriculum.
The goals beyond high school graduation will be achievement in college,
and, by the year 2020, leadership in the community. Download

How would I get transportation to SJJ?
Bus service is free to and from the following school districts: Oregon,
Bowling Green, Perrysburg, Swanton, Evergreen, Rogers (Toledo),
Springfield, Sylvania, Rossford. If you live in the
Toledo school district and are more than two miles from St. John's Jesuit,
you are eligible to ride TARTA busses at no charge. Bus passes are available
from the Toledo Board of Education. TARTA also provides several public
routes that serve St. John's Jesuit in the morning and afternoon. St.
John's provides bus service, for a fee, from North and West Toledo, the
Central City and the Bancroft area both before and after school. Some
families prefer to form car pools to accommodate after-school activities.

Why St. John's Jesuit?
St. John's Jesuit has distinctive assets. We are the educational leader
in the area. The Class of 2007 graduates have been offered over
$15 million in college scholarships this year. Our
graduates are admitted to some of the nation's most selective universities.
Our athletes have won the City League All Sports Trophy 26 out of 34
years. Our technology program continues to be the most current, with
new computers. We are the area leader in SAT and ACT
scores. Juniors at SJJ take an SAT Preparatory
course. Also, SJJ is one of three schools selected in the state to offer
an Introductory Engineering
course
from
The Ohio
State
University.
SJJ offers a pre-med course. SJJ is the only school in Northwest Ohio
with a Pre-Law course. Many special programs integral to our emphasis
on developing
the "total
person" are
unique to SJJ (i.e. Volunteer Department, Kairos Retreat, full time
campus
minister,
college
counseling
department,
international service opportunities).
