Alumni News
Spring 2008
Dear Alumnus,
The next letter I write will appear on main page of our new on-line
community (SJJ Connections)! This is a long-awaited and exciting
time as a great opportunity will open up for you and fellow SJJ
Titan alumni. One of our major goals over the last 18 months has
been to professionally and personally network our alumni. We have
been doing this through local and out-of-town receptions in addition
to this online effort. In order to help with this process, please
make sure that we have your current primary email.
Soon we will see our 40th graduating class walk across the stage.
Included in that group will be 18 sons of our alumni. We currently
have 115 sons of graduates attending SJJ and next year’s
freshman class currently has 33 sons of alumni registered. Although
it dates me, it is very exciting to see the number of legacies
grow each year. We have reached the point where over half of our
alumni are over 35 years of age. Who will be the first alumnus
to have a grandson attend?
I would ask you to consider attending the Alumni Weekend activities
even if it is not your reunion year. Much like the colleges, we
have planned a weekend of fun for individuals, couples, and families.
This is a great opportunity to see friends from all of the graduating
classes as well as the first chance to meet our new president,
Fr. Martinez. In addition to the open festivities, we do have a
special evening set aside for the reunion years (‘ 73, ’78, ’83, ’88, ’93, ’98,
and ‘ 03). Details for this weekend can be found on the Alumni
Events Calendar link.
As the 2007-08 school year draws to a close, I would like to thank
you for maintaining your ties to SJJ. Being a fan at games, supporting
the annual fund and other projects, coaching, helping with retreats,
speaking to classes, and providing professional services are just
some of the ways that our faithful alumni help produce future Titans.
I would like to extend an open invitation for you and your family
to walk the halls of St. John’s Jesuit with me. Any time
that you are in the vicinity, please give me a call.
Sincerely,

Mike Savona ‘ 75

Relations and Planned Giving
