Titans Will Capitalize on Strong Senior Class
The 2007 season will mark the sixth season at the helm
for head coach Doug Pearson. The previous five seasons
culminated in a record of 40-17 with four playoff appearances. The
Titans this season will continue to use the spread option offense
while the defense will feature a 4-4 attack. |

“We have always tried to reach a consistent balance on both sides
of the ball between the talent that we have and the schemes we want to
use. This year’s team has worked hard to prepare themselves for
one of the toughest schedules in school history,” claimed Coach
Pearson. With out of league contests against Findlay, Columbus DeSales,
and Strongsville, the Titans will face strong opponents even before they
enter play in the formidable City League.
Rick Rattay ‘08
and Walt Anderson ‘09 at quarterback will lead
the offense. Handling the ball at running back will be the trio - DaJon
Booth ‘08, Ian Gaston ’09, and Allen Crews ‘09.
Catching passes on the
perimeter will be any of the following wide receivers: Pat O’Hearn ‘08,
Chris Macino ‘08, Mike Weiher ‘08,
Mike White ‘09, and Matt Sulewski ‘08. Luke
Chalfant ‘08,
Tim Mahoney ‘08, and Ryan Ball ’08 will handle tight end
chores. The offensive line will be comprised of Andrew Schaetzke ‘08,
Austin Steinhauser ‘08, Dane Peters ‘08, Justin
Leahey ‘08,
Michael McClellan ‘08, Jarrett Klingbeil ’08, Jack
Mewhort ’09,
and Tyler Webster ‘09.
Defensively the Titans will use a large collection
of personnel to control the opposing offenses. The defensive line will
feature the group of Schaetzke,
Leahey, Mewhort, Darrick Colbert ‘09, Mahoney, and Tim
Kynard ‘09.
The inside linebackers will be seniors Ball and Max
Jacoby ‘08
while the outside linebackers will be Chalfant and Hunter
Lent ‘09.
In the defensive secondary expect to see Rattay at free safety and Ian
Gaston ‘09
and Kevin Buno ‘09 at cornerback.
