Christian Service at St. John's Jesuit
Local Community Service
The Christian Service program at St. John's Jesuit provides service
opportunities above and beyond what is required in Theology classes
for juniors and seniors. The program works with about 30 different
agencies in the Toledo area, most of which serve the most marginalized
people of the community. Students may serve after school, on weekends,
or may be released from school. Students sign up for a semester
at a time and may sign up for all four semesters during their junior
and senior years. |

A mandatory part of the Christian Service program is that each student
servant takes part in two group reflection sessions, which include a written
component, during the semester he serves. The Christian Service program
affords St. John's Jesuit students the opportunity to take what they have
learned in their required service and put it into action in a truly voluntary
sense.

The Christian Service program is a major
component of a St. John's Jesuit education and assists the school
in fulfilling it's mission statement which reads:
St. John's Jesuit develops Christian
Leaders. Each student achieves his greatest potential in a spirited,
Christ-centered atmosphere distinguished by academic success and
service as a man for others. |
