A Gurian Model School

St. John’s Jesuit Academy is an innovative learning environment for boys in 6th, 7th and 8th grades that provides the opportunity for these young men to thrive within the Jesuit mission.

The Academy provides a supportive academically-challenging curriculum to successfully transition students to a college-prep high school.

Gurian Model School

Michael Gurian, educator and author, is the foremost authority on gender-based learning. There are only nine Gurian Model Schools in the U.S. and St. John’s Junior Academy was named a Model School in July of 2013. Academy teachers are trained by Gurian certified-professionals and use the latest research regarding brain gender differences and high-impact gender-friendly instructional strategies in every aspect of teaching students.

Gurian classroom strategies are proven to increase students’ engagement, increase teacher effectiveness, provide best practices for literacy and STEM, increase social-emotional skills among boys and reduce bullying.

Please watch the video of Mr. Levering, a St. John's Jesuit Academy teacher and certified Gurian trainer, as he shares our commitment  to helping our students to reach their full potential. Also included in our certified Gurian team is Mrs. Keri Struckholz and Mrs. Megan Hujik.
